I n t r o d u c t i o n. A paper on the rare tooth fungus Dentipratulum bialoviesense Domański appeared in Czech Mycology vol. 73 (Holec et Zehnálek 2021), in which photographs of dried herbarium material were published. In August 2021 the species was found again at the same locality, Boubínský prales virgin forest in the Czech Republic. Photographs of the fungus were taken in situ and one day after in the laboratory. As they represent the first photographs of fresh basidiomata in the world, they are published here with comments on the species’ appearance.

The strongly osmophilic and slowly growing fungi Penicillium eremophilum and Xerochrysium dermatitidis were found on soy protein bars. These fungi are worldwide rarely recorded and have been recorded in the Czech Republic for the first time. Penicillium eremophilum is exceptional in the genus Penicillium by the production of 2-spored asci and by the absence of a conidial state. Xerochrysium dermatitidis is predominantly known from food, but some affinity to clinical material has also been recorded. The identification of the strains was confirmed by DNA sequencing. Their macroscopic and microscopic descriptions with photographs completed with known literature data are given.

During an ongoing study of freshwater fungi colonising decaying submerged wood in Egypt, two species of Canalisporium, namely C. grenadoideum and C. jinghongense, were recorded for the first time in Egypt and Africa. These two species are described and illustrated herein. The conidial morphology of the two species was compared with that of others elsewhere in the world. The asexual morph of C. grenadoideum was recorded and described for the first time on natural substrate in the present study. A key to Canalisporium species in Egypt is provided.

During 2016 and 2018, Lactuca undulata plants showing symptoms typical of white blister rust were collected in the province of South Khorasan, Iran. Phylogenetic analysis resolved the position of specimens in the genus Pustula. The specimens were characterised by oospore size and ornamentation, and size of secondary sporangia. In addition to morphology, phylogenetic analysis also suggests a new species for the genus distinct from other established Pustula species, which is described here as Pustula lactucae sp. nov. Scanning electron microscope illustrations are also provided.

Two recent records of the rare fungus Dentipratulum bialoviesense from Boubínský prales virgin forest in the Czech Republic were documented morphologically and molecularly. One collection from the type locality, Białowieża virgin forest in Poland, was used for morphological comparison. The Boubínský prales collections agree with the Białowieża collection in macroand micromorphological characters and ecology, namely their growth on decaying wood of Picea abies in natural forest. Simultaneously, Boubínský prales collections clearly differ in their ITS rDNA region from the only published Dentipratulum sequence based on a collection from France, originally identified as D. bialoviesense but currently representing a paratype of the recently described species D. crystallinum. Consequently, the Boubínský prales sequences most likely represent the first sequence data of D. bialoviesense. Notes on the taxonomy and ecology of D. bialoviesense and D. crystallinum are added, suggesting that the identity of all collections should be verified molecularly in future, especially those from wood of broadleaved trees in France. Photographs of dried basidiomata and key micromorphological characters of D. bialoviesense from Boubínský prales and Białowieża are provided.

Cultivation of dragon fruit plants (Hylocereus spp.) in the Philippines has increased over the past years, and its diseases remain one of the major production challenges. In this study, a fungal pathogen, so far unknown in the country, was isolated from H. undatus from anthracnose-like lesion. Isolate MBDF0037C-1 was identified as Colletotrichum fructicola, based on combined morphological and molecular characterisation. This is the first record of C. fructicola causing anthracnose of dragon fruit plants in the Philippines. The isolate caused anthracnose to H. undatus and H. monacanthus, but not to H. megalanthus, in repeated in-vitro and in-vivo pathogenicity tests. Therefore, this study also highlights H. megalanthus as a potential source of resistance to anthracnose in dragon fruit breeding programmes.

As a result of molecular phylogenetic and morphological analyses, three new species of the genus Pseudosperma, namely P. amabile, P. amoris and P. napaeanum, are described in detail along with illustrations of their macroand micromorphology and a phylogenetic tree. In addition, to ensure a correct interpretation of the species identity in comparison with morphologically similar species, the holotype of P. flavellum, as well as an isoparatype of P. spurium and isotypes of P. aureocitrinum and P. copriniforme have been examined, and of the latter two species also an ITS sequence was obtained. A drawing of the microscopical details of all four type specimens is given.
