Humic substances represent the most extensive and reactive class of natural compounds. A more nature-saving way is to obtain humus substances from solid combustible minerals and waste from their processing. The ability of these compounds to form stable complexes with heavy metals, which increases with their directed chemical modification, has been experimentally confirmed. The effectiveness of the phenol-formaldehyde condensation method for the modification of initial humus substances has been confirmed. The interaction of humic and himatomelanic acids with formaldehyde leads to an increase in sorption activity in comparison with the initial humic acids with respect to heavy metals. This aspect has been studied and confirmed in model experiments with copper ions. Key words: humic substances, brown coal, humic and himatomelanic acids, directed chemical modification, hydroxymethyl (methyl) derivatives, heavy metals, copper ions, complex formation.

Type 2 diabetes accounts for up to 90% of all diabetes cases. It is known that people with type 2 diabetes are often obese. Long-term complications also include problems with the cardiovascular, nervous and urinary systems. The model of type 2 diabetes mellitus based on a diet rich of fat and carbohydrates was used in the work. We observed a significant increase in the body weight of mice and sugar levels in their blood. Morphometric analysis of the pancreas showed an increase of its mass coefficient. Tactile sensitivity measurement showed an increase in its threshold. The developed model is quite suitable for analyzing the diabetes progression and its side effects on the body. Key words: diabetes mellitus type 2, obesity, pancreas, tactile sensitivity.

The object of the study of enzymatic antioxidants in the blood serum of white mice were 30 outbred white male and female mice of the same age and approximately of the same weight. The animals were divided into 3 groups: one control group and two experimental ones in which the mice consumed water with a high content of total iron and manganese (II) ion (over 5 MPC).This study revealed that the activity of glutathione transferase as a marker of antioxidant defense increased among the male mice in the experimental group after experiencing a 12-week-long intoxication, however the level of malondialdehyde in their blood serum indicated insignificant oxidative stress. Keywords: iron, manganese, drinking water, glutathione transferase, malondialdehyde, antioxidant defense, oxidative stress.

The paper considers modern approaches to the zoning of territories and the selection of people for life in extreme environmental conditions, taking into account modern geopolitical challenges. It is shown that it is possible, based on the allostasis concept, to conduct not only the selection of persons with a high level of nonspecific resistance, but also to quantify the degree of extremity of environmental factors using the standard represpiration test. Key words: adaptation, extreme conditions, selection, hypoxia, cold, rerespiration, allostatic load.

The influence of acute normobaric hypoxia (ANH) on the male heart chronotropic effects was studied. Thus, a mild degree of ANH (14.5 % O2, 20 min), causing a decrease in blood oxygenation by 6.3 abs. %, accompanied by an initial (by 5 min) decrease in the RR and QT intervals. The average degree of ANH (12.3% O2) leads to a decrease in blood oxygenation by 19.7 abs. %. At the same time, in inverse relationship to the developing hypoxemia, RR and QT significantly decrease. Corrected values (Pc, PQc, QRSc, QTc) increase during the action period of an average degree of hypoxia, indicating an increase in the proportion of atrial contraction time, atrioventricular conduction of excitation and electrical ventricular systole in the total RR duration, which, apparently, provides optimal systolic heart effect. Key words: human, hypoxia, blood oxygenation, cardiointervals.
