Academic achievement has become a phenomenon of interest to all, which explains why scientists have worked all out to disentangle the elements that impede student academic success. Despite the plethora of causal factors determining student academic success, this study focuses on revealing how teacher teaching performance and student learning motivation affect academic achievement in Indonesian language subjects among state junior high school students. Two survey questionnaires and the Indonesian language academic record were used to collect data from a total of 345 students, conveniently drawn from among the students enrolled at the state junior high schools in Merauke Regency, Indonesia. Obtained data were subjected to statistical analysis using simple linear regression by utilising the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences software version 21. The statistical results showed that the teacher teaching performance and student learning motivation impact significantly positively on the academic achievement in Indonesian language subjects among the state junior high school students. Teachers are crucial to the academic performance of all the students they teach and play a more dominating role in motivating children who are at risk of academic failure. Developing testing instruments to measure science literacy of elementary school students 开发测量小学生科学素养的测试工具

Literacy is one aspect of knowledge that has become a benchmark for the success of education. The measurement of the level of quality of education carried out by UNESCO is recorded at the lowest rank. The purpose of this study was to develop test instruments to measure the scientific literacy abilities of elementary school students. The number of respondents in this study was 20 students and 12 items. This research method used the design of (1) a preliminary study stage, (2) a development study stage and (3) an evaluation stage. In the first stage, the preliminary study was reviewed through literature studies, field studies and identification according to the needs of the instrument. Furthermore, the second stage of the development study was carried out by designing the initial product, validation tests by experts, analysis and revisions, and then carrying out initial trials, analysis and refinement. Data analysis was carried out using the Rasch model approach. The results of the analysis showed the reliability index of the instrument (=0.97) and the reliability of the person (α = 0.81). In general, this instrument can explain 72.7% of the variance in respondents, so this test instrument can be used to measure the scientific literacy of elementary school students.Keywords: Elementary school, instrument test, Rasch model, science literacy, student

Effectiveness of professional learning community programmes to improve school quality 提高学校质量的专业学习社区方案的有效性

The school is a professional learning community. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of professional learning communities (PLC) in improving the quality of schools. The method used in this research is a mixed method that is carried out in two stages. The correlational method was used to examine the correlation between school quality and the implementation of the PLC programme. Experimental methods are used to examine whether PLC can improve school quality. This study involved 3 secondary schools with an average age of 14–18 years. The results show that there is a high correlation between the level of school quality and the implementation of the PLC programme. In addition, the PLC programme has proven to be effective in improving the quality of schools in terms of teacher competence and student academic results in the fields of language and mathematics. This research provides an overview for stakeholders in schools regarding the importance of collaboration among staff. The implication of this research is that school heads can apply PLC programmes to improve the quality of their schools by prioritising collaborative learning between teaching staff and students.Keywords: Community of professional learning (PLC), school quality, teacher and students’ competence.

Students’ ability to solve function problems by using handep cooperative learning model 运用手部合作学习模式培养学生解决函数问题的能力

The cultural dimension can be a solution to identify the difficulties by learning about relations and functions. This study aims to describe the students' reasoning function concept, the solution variations on open-ended problems related to domain–codomains and function formulas, and to examine the effect of the handep cooperative learning model on the ability to solve function problems. This research used a quasi-experiment method involving 68 students. Data were collected through an essay test and analytical rubric. The effect of the model was tested on the problem-solving ability of functions by using an analysis of variance. Consequently, most students have good reasoning of the function definitions and the domain–codomain terms perfectly, very varied solutions in solving open-ended problems for domain–codomain and function formulas. The model has a significant effect on mastery of function concepts. The steps of the handep cooperative learning model supported the students’ reasoning.Keywords: Cooperative Learning, Domain-Codomain, Function Formula, Handep, Problem-Solving, Reasoning.

Attitudes of university colleagues toward accommodations for students with disabilities 大学同事对残疾学生住宿的态度

This study aimed to assess attitudes of university colleagues toward accommodations for students with disabilities. This quantitative study used a cross-sectional observation design. The observation was designed via Qualtrics, distributed, and 247 those who took part in the investigation were investigated using a software package to analyze statistical data. Results indicated that most faculty demonstrate strong and great results in the provision of accommodations in the educational practice of students with. Furthermore, findings suggested issues surrounding disabled learners were much discussed by female university colleagues. Many years of experience were associated with great results in providing accommodations for students with disabilities in universities than inexperienced children. Being a training helper was also associated with a more optimistic perception toward discussing academic problems with disabled learners than being an Advisor. Recommendations are to provide training and role models for mans to increase their attitudes toward accommodations and to provide training and mentorship for those with less training experience.Keywords: Attitudes, Accommodations, Inclusion, High incidence disabilities, University

Exploratory factor and reliability analyses of educational awareness of educational investment 教育投资意识的探索性因素及可靠性分析

One of the factors that affect education investment is an internal factor that comes from the decision of parents to support the maximum education. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to contribute to the identification of the reliability of instruments in measuring the educational awareness that parents have in deciding to invest in the field of education, using exploratory factor analysis and reliability analysis. The results of the analysis showed that, of the 24 items used, there was only 1 item with the Keskom1 code that had no correlation with other items studied, so the item with the Keskom1 code was not used as a measuring tool to retrieve future research data, while other items could be used as a tool for data collection.        Keywords: Educational awareness, educational investment, EFA, reliability analysis.

Charta media influence on integrated science learning difficulties of coastal students Charta媒体对沿海学生综合科学学习困难的影响

This study was conducted to observe the charta media effect on learning difficulties of Integrated Science in Junior High School Students. Learning difficulties can be seen from the low motivation and learning outcomes. The charta media manufacture uses waste materials, such as plastic bottles and drink pipettes. The method used was a pretest and posttest control group design, with the samples number for each group was 25 people. The statistical tests used were descriptive and inferential using SPSS statistical software. The results showed that charta media had a positive effect on motivation and learning outcomes. Both on learning motivation and learning outcomes, there was an increase in the average value. The mean value for learning motivation increased from 54.8±9.43 to 84.20±20.19. The average value for learning outcomes increased from 54.40±17.04 to 75.5±12.44. Based on the results of the inferential test, it shows that the data is normally distributed and homogeneous.Keywords: Charta media, waste materials, Integrated science, learning difficulties, motivation, learning outcomes.

Learning difficulties can be seen from the low motivation and learning outcomes. The charta media manufacture uses waste materials, such as plastic bottles and drink pipettes. The method used was a pretest and posttest control group design, with the samples number for each group was 25 people. The statistical tests used were descriptive and inferential using SPSS statistical software. The results showed that charta media had a positive effect on motivation and learning outcomes. Both on learning motivation and learning outcomes, there was an increase in the average value. The mean value for learning motivation increased from 54.8±9.43 to 84.20±20.19. The average value for learning outcomes increased from 54.40±17.04 to 75.5±12.44. Differential item functioning detection in fundamental physics test 基础物理测试中的差异项目功能检测

The study's objective was to identify the differential item functioning (DIF) or bias using item response theory. This research is exploratory research with a quantitative approach. In this study, the data used is a fundamental physics test, specifically motion one and two dimensions, dynamics and work and energy concept, with 25 items in the two-tier multiple choices in form. Two hundred and fifty-four prospective physics teachers at West Java and Banten provinces, Indonesia, consisting of 103 males (reference group) and 151 females (focal group). The data analysis includes two stages: conformity of the logistic model parameters and item characteristics, followed by DIF detection. The model suitability test shows the appropriate parameter is 2PL. DIF detection has three methods: simple area indices, Raju and the Lord method. Research results show two things. First, the model fit test shows that the data best fit the 2-parameter or 2-PL logistic parameter model, and all items have good characteristics. Second, the most significant item containing uniform DIF was number 5, followed by nonuniform DIF items 9 and 25. These three items were biased because the chances of answering correctly for male and female students differed. Significantly, this means that this item favors one group. This study illustrates the importance of constructing instrument items so that all test takers, both male and female, have an equal chance to answer the question correctly.Keywords: Differential item functioning, physics test, simple area indices, Raju method, Lord method;

A school as a learning organisation (LO) is indispensable today. However, the limitations of schools in human resources (teacher) problems, infrastructure facilities and funds become real obstacles. This research is carried out to find a LO model based on strengthening self-efficacy and empowering teachers. The research was conducted with a quantitative approach, a causal associative type with survey methods involving 237 pre-elementary teachers. Samples are determined by using a simple random sampling technique. Data analysis uses regression analysis to test aspects of relationships and direct influence between independent and dependent variables. The main result of this research is a positive causality relationship, and if the self-efficacy and empowerment of teachers are high, then the LO will be increased significantly. Strengthening the LO through self-efficacy and teacher empowerment is very important because it can improve the quality of graduates.Keywords: :  Learning organization, strengthened self-efficacy, empowered teachers, pre-elementary  school, school  management

Students’ difficulties in solving geometry problems 学生解决几何问题的困难

This study is based on research findings that examines students' difficulties utilizing Polya's problem to solve geometry problems -solving stages. Thirty-one students were assigned to work on questions about the material in order to calculate the distance in space. Researchers examined each student’s work to determine which stage of Polya they struggled with. In-depth interviews were also conducted to clarify answers and investigate students' difficulties in solving math problems. The results showed that students who were able to answer completely and correctly, based on Polya’s stages in understanding the problem, compiling or thinking about a solution plan, solving the problem according to the plan and re- examining the procedure and the results of solving the answer, had a very low success rate. Scaffolding is given to students who have difficulty and recognition of the accuracy of correct answers for those who are successful.Keywords: Geometry, Polya’s problem-solving stages, students difficulties.
