The purpose of this study is to analyze the phenomenon known as “anglicism”: a loan made to the English language by another language. Anglicism arose either from the adoption of an English word as a result of a translation defect despite the existence of an equivalent term in the language of the speaker, or from a wrong translation, as a word-by-word translation. Said phenomenon is very common nowadays and most languages of the world including making use of some linguistic concepts such as anglicism, neologism, syntax, morphology etc, this article addresses various aspects related to Anglicisms in French through a bibliographic study: the definition of Anglicism, the origin of Anglicisms in French and the current situation, the areas most affected by Anglicism, the different categories of Anglicism, the difference between French Anglicism in France and French-speaking Canada, the attitude of French-speaking society towards to the Anglicisms and their efforts to stop this phenomenon. The study shows that the areas affected are, among others, trade, travel, parliamentary and judicial institutions, sports, rail, industrial production and most recently film, industrial production, sport, oil industry, information technology, science and technology. Various initiatives have been implemented either by public institutions or by individuals who share concerns about the increasingly felt threat of the omnipresence of Anglicism in everyday life.

Considering that film is a form of social practice, it mostly brings social topic to be discussed. In this context, a film is a tool to talk about the problems within the society. Topic about power relation in certain social arena is present in Un prophète (The Prophet), directed by Jacques Audiard. This film tells a story about Malik El-Diebena living behind the bars for six years. In the prison, El-Diebena, who is the part of Arabian community, has had conflict with César Luciani, the leader of Corsican community. He had to find a strategy to fight against César. This article talks about power relation among the characters to fight against social structure based on the narrative and cinematographic aspects by using the concept of power relation by Pierre Bourdieu. The film provides the social hierarchy of the characters based on the capitals that apply in the prison as social arena. Bourdieu’s concept also shows the power exchange between them. This interaction depends on the amounts of the capitals that each characters have. The result explains the power system between the characters and the social arena regarding the capital accumulation hold in prison. The social capitals lead to the position shifts in this arena. The text portrays the characters’ efforts to obtain the capitals that are necessaries in the power exchange.

Learning a foreign language cannot be separated from literature and culture. One of the definitions of literature is a reflection of society; so through literature we can know the real image of society as well as the culture. Moreover, by knowing the foreign cultures of the countries from which we learn the language, we can not only read, but also understand the problems that appear in the texts studied. Similarly, French culture cannot be separated from Maghreb culture. The two cultures complement each other, later becoming the content of various literary, French literary and Francophone literary. The relationship between the two cultures is also part of the content of Virginie Despentes' novel Apocalypse bébé. Through this novel, we can see an image of the relationship between France and the Maghreb people in their social life. Thus, as a learner of French, we could know not only French culture through the textbooks published by French publishers, but also recognize the French culture associated with France both directly and indirectly. Therefore, the literary text entitled Apocalypse bébé can be an alternative source of learning French, not only in terms of language attached to vocabulary and grammar, but also to know French and Francophone culture so that students know the relationship for understanding and analyzing literary works.

The travel story of Thierry Robinet appears as a text that offers diversified looks on the ecology of Indonesia as having a great natural diversity. In navigating the Mémoires de routes: les îles de la sonde, we see that questioning the relationship between human beings and nature is unavoidable. The work thus proposes to show how the author perceives and characterizes the nature of Indonesian archipelago. We look at later, always in an ecocritique perspective, the relationship and interaction between human beings and nature in the work. The result shows that the author, as a Westerner, seems to characterize the nature Indonesian archipelago as being dynamic, wild, dangerous, and full of mysteries, wealth and wonders. The relation human-nature happens in the practice of nature conservation and the practice of multiform domination which exploits and destroys nature for the benefit of human.

May 1968 was one of the most important events in French after the Second World War. The movement began on 3 may by the students and was able to invite other groups until June 1968. It was marked by the action of May 13, 1968, which involves workers to participate in events with students. Success cannot be done without the pamphlets as a means of communication to invite and mobilize the community to carry out the demonstration and general strike. Yet, in the making of pamphlets we should take care of the choice of words and sentences due to space limitations. Using qualitative methods and literature study techniques, this article describes the sentential structure of calls to the corpus of action to pamphlets, based on Querler‘s theory of sentence structure (1994). The freedom of the authors towards space limitations led to structural differences in each pamphlet becoming corpus. However, the use of optional expansion, the compilation of sentences and the use of punctuation significantly facilitated two groups of society in the action of May 13, 1968 to understand the reasons for and the objectives of the action to implement.

This article focuses on how Maghreb women are represented in the novel Kiffe Kiffe Demain of Faïza Guène. The theory used is theory of representation by Stuart Hall. The method used in this study is the study of literature. The results show that Maghreb women in this novel are not only of women under suppression due to the patriarchal system of the Maghreb culture, but in addition they break also the repression by being women who received an education who are represented by Yasmina and Doria. In this article, you can see that the problem of Maghreb women is women who have always been dominated by men, but also women who break patriarchal culture by having education.

At university, we need a strategy for learning French because we are not only learning French but also the courses in common. So we don’t have enough time to practice the conversation in the classroom. This is why teachers have to choose a relevant social media such as skype. This medium allows free access to students at long distance and at any time. Research called the Culture-Based Skype Oral Production Learning Model aims to analyze the manual’s oral production activities and plan them based on the culture needed. We observed the Alter Ego+1 manual that students use and we noted which themes existed, for example: identity, place (point the way), passion and leisure, everyday activities, family and life, travel, gastronomy and fashion. This research, which uses a qualitative approach and a method of research and development, is a plan for researching and developing the learning model. And then we make the prototype of the learning model of oral production through Skype based on culture. Here are some steps before producing this model: analyze the manual,

In the course of the written production, the teacher gives tasks for the students to practice their skill. The cultural contexts of tasks presented in FLE methods are sometimes far from the learner’s imagination. To reduce the problem of cultural xenicity, it is necessary for a teacher to modify these spots in order to encourage the learner to produce. To produce texts that represent the advanced level, the student must be directed in order to express ideas logically. In this context, the cognitive approach seems appropriate to apply in the course of written production. This article details the adaptation of the tasks of the written production of the cultural context of the French language to that of the language of the learner and also describes the application of the cognitive approach in the learning of the competence of the written production at the advanced level.

The article discusses the translation processes used to translate the terms fashion and gastronomy. The data are retrieved from the French novel Madame Bovary and its two versions in Indonesian translated by two different translators. The result of the analysis shows that both translators apply the literal translation, use the borrow and tend to generalize meaning. However, the terms of fashion and gastronomy in the two targeted texts are not always the same. the unequal level of linguistic and cultural mastery of the two translators results in different interpretations. The new vocabulary, through translation, would enrich Indonesian vocabulary.

Almost all experts in the field of teaching at the FLE agree that written production is a difficult skill to acquire, whereas as a teacher, we have to find a suitable and interesting method for our students to like to write and in the end they have good writing skills. There are many ways we can do this; one of the other is the productive creative teaching model. To find out how effective this model is, we implemented it in our Written Production class. Before doing so, we did the pre-test, then the implementation of this model in class and ended with the result of the posttest. After analyzing data, this result shows us that the written output of our students increases after the implementation of this model.
