The article discusses one of the most urgent problems of the modern education system – control and evaluation activities in elementary school. The idea of the need to change the axiological approaches to monitoring the planned learning outcomes of younger schoolchildren is substantiated: special attention should be paid to the development of students’ regulative skills – self-control and self-esteem as the most important qualities of the subject of educational activity that ensure its success. The characteristic of traditional types of control is given, as well as a new type, which is the starting (diagnostic) control.

The article highlights an important social problem: it traces the change in the ways of communicative activity in the field of education from antiquity to the emergence of a digital society. The study of this phenomenon by specialists of various profiles proves that it has reduced motor activity – humanity has become addicted to sitting in electronic networks, the Internet, as a result of which communication has become passive. The article discusses various iconic forms of virtual communication that lead to a number of negative consequences: psycho-emotional changes, information overload, the appearance of a person’s internal closeness, unwillingness not only to perform useful purposeful actions, but also to move.

The article reveals the potential of the extended day group in improving the quality of preparation of younger schoolchildren for training sessions. Based on the recommendations of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation, the group’s work schedule has been developed, which is adapted to the conditions for the implementation of educational programs for primary general education. Innovations include organizing the preparation of younger schoolchildren for training sessions, taking into account the physiological characteristics inherent in their age, and differences in the rhythm of work when doing homework. The results of the diagnostics carried out are confirmed by the analysis of student performance, as well as by the data of a survey of primary school teachers aimed at determining the dynamics of changes in the level of preparation of younger students for classes.
